Experience

While most advisor websites discuss experience in general terms, I bring over 30 years of practical expertise that focuses on delivering tangible benefits to my clients. Allow me to illustrate this through key areas where my experience has made a difference:

Estate Planning:

In the realm of Estate Planning, we adopt a strategic approach aimed at potentially saving clients substantial sums in government fees. Equally important is ensuring the seamless transfer of their estate to their loved ones. Given the diverse array of family situations, we offer tailored guidance on structuring their affairs effectively. While we are not estate lawyers, our extensive expertise in estate planning allows us to steer clients in the right direction.

Tax Planning:

Many clients have made costly tax mistakes with their investments before seeking our advice. I've witnessed clients lose thousands due to hasty decisions. Everything from RSP transfers and concentrated stock positions to retirement income splitting and Old Age Security clawbacks, not to mention poor planning when selling businesses. Fortunately, there are creative yet legal ways to ensure you retain as much of your money as possible.

Investment Planning:

With three decades of experience, I fulfill a crucial role for my clients: guiding them through emotional challenges during turbulent market periods. Throughout my career, I've navigated significant market events: from the unexpected interest rate hike in 1994, to the collapse of the Russian ruble in 1998, and the burst of the dot-com bubble in 2000 (not to mention the Y2K concerns at the close of 1999), along with the accounting scandals of 2002 which led to substantial stock market declines, including the prominent case of Nortel Networks. I've guided clients through the tumultuous financial crisis of 2008/2009, the trade tensions with China in 2018, and the market turbulence spurred by the Federal Reserve's indications of interest rate hikes in December of that year. Then came the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020 and the events of 2022. Throughout these periods, I've provided steady guidance, helping clients navigate through market fluctuations while ensuring their investments continue to grow despite the bumps along the way.

Experience and expertise are what I bring to the table for those seeking investment success. My track record of success, both for clients and myself, spans decades, and I welcome the opportunity to do the same for you.
